Jean Rosow Sketches of Trinity University

Jean (Coulter) Rosow is a fine and commercial artist, known for her depictions of San Antonio landmarks and events. Originally from La Grange, Illinois, Coulter marriage David Frank Rosow from San Antonio in 1966. As early as 1973, she was commissioned to sketch the Koehler House for the San Antonio Art League, and illustrated "Out of Sight San Antonio," a book of notable structures with architect Ron Bechtol in 1979. By the early 1980s she was a requested graphic artist, with drawings regularly appearing the in the San Antonio Express News. She held her first independent exhibition 1983. As a member of many clubs and organizations, her work was often featured as the visual representation of such organizations and their associated events and publications, including logos, cookbooks, calendars, and posters. In 1992 she was selected to design the annual Fiesta poster. Her main medium throughout this period was working in pen, ink, and watercolor. Though, in 1996 her identifiable style was displayed across VIA transportation buses as transitory murals around town.
In 1987 Trinity University commissioned Rosow to do a series of drawings of campus buildings and scenes. Her illustrations were thus used in various print material including courses of study bulletins, brochures, and the Trinity University Women’s Club 1996 cookbook.
