Biographical history

Bell Eugene Looney was a student (class of 1894), later a Latin professor (1896-1904), and the first president of the Alumni Council for Trinity University from 1953-1966. Looney taught many years at the North Texas State School (University of North Texas). In the 1950s, he contributed to the development of the library's sociology holdings. In 1957 he compiled, enlarged, and gifted photo portraits of the first 14 Trinity presidents. He passed away in 1966.

Scope and content

This collection consists of correspondence from Looney with Alumni Affairs and the President's Office. Also included are Trinity related items from a small scrapbook and folder of miscellaneous items. This is an artificial collection of correspondence and items were pulled together as an individual collection. Correspondence regards his gift of presidential portraits, gifts to the library, and dealings with the alumni office.
